MKV is handy for storage, but not every phone, TV or editor can open it. MP4 is supported almost everywhere.

How to convert MKV to MP4

Click “Select files” or drag an MKV video into the box.
Make sure MP4 is selected on the right.
Click “Convert” — the MP4 will be saved to the Downloads folder.

Are subtitles and multiple audio tracks kept?

No. The MP4 gets the video and the first audio track; subtitles from the MKV are not carried over.

Will the quality drop?

If the MKV video is H.264 with AAC or MP3 sound, it is repackaged with no quality loss. Other formats are re-encoded to H.264 at the original resolution and frame rate.

Limits

You can select several files at once, each up to 1 GB. Files are converted one after another.
Video length is not limited — only the file size matters, up to 1 GB. H.264 video is repacked into MP4, MOV, M4V and FLV in seconds.
A GIF is made from the whole video: 8 frames per second, 360 pixels wide. WAV, FLAC and AIFF — up to 1 hour of audio (about 10 MB per minute).

File safety

The uploaded file is used only for the conversion and is never shared with anyone. The original file is deleted right after processing. The converted file is kept for 24 hours — during that time you can download it again — and is then deleted automatically.
