Meridian Media › YouTube subtitles

Paste a YouTube video link — the service shows all available subtitles: uploaded by the author, automatic in the video's language and YouTube auto-translation into other languages. Choose the language and the format, and the file is saved to your Downloads folder.

How to download subtitles

  1. Copy the link to a YouTube video or Short — from the address bar or with the “Share” button.
  2. Paste it into the field above and click “Get subtitles”.
  3. Choose a language — author's, automatic or auto-translated subtitles — and the file format, then press “Download”.

Formats

Automatic subtitles are marked “auto”: their text is recognised by YouTube and may contain mistakes. Tracks marked “auto-translated” are YouTube's machine translation into the chosen language.

Can I download subtitles from someone else's video?

Yes, from any public YouTube video that has subtitles.

Can I download subtitles translated into my language?

Yes. If a video has subtitles, YouTube can translate them into other languages — these tracks are grouped in the list under “YouTube auto-translation”. Choose a language and download the file as usual. The translation is machine-made, so it may be inaccurate.

Why does a video have no subtitles?

The author turned them off, or YouTube hasn't created automatic ones yet. This happens with music videos and very new videos.

How do I get just the video text?

Choose the TXT format or open the YouTube transcript page: the text is shown right away and can be copied.

Need the video itself or its sound? Download it on the YouTube page or as MP3. You can change a file's format in the video converter.
